Presents for Pets

Christmas is for everyone, not just the two-legged kind! Each year, The Bearen Foundation has played Santa to those needy and homeless, lost and deserving pets in the Lane County Animal Shelter. Thanks to Forrest Paint Company for donating the barrels and the generosity of all the pet-lovers who so kindly give during the holiday season, each “Presents for Pets” drive has been a success! Large barrels wrapped in festive holiday paper and bright red bows sit proudly in caring stores and vet clinics each holiday season, gathering thousands of dollars worth of merchandise each year!

“It would be hard to describe how many lives these donations touched,” says Mike Wellington, Director at LCAS, thanking The Bearen Foundation, “I think it’s long overdue that such a dedicated group of people take on such a difficult task.”

2,432 Pounds of Goods was Collected in all for Pets in our 8th Annual Presents for Pets Drive!

Congratulations to Mini Pet Mart on Willamette St for collecting the most items - 754 pounds of goods AND $238 in cash! Way to go Mini Pet Mart, you win a pizza lunch for your staff, compliments of The Bearen Foundation!

We would like to note that in leiu of enjoying their pizza prize, Mini Pet Mart on Willamette St has elected to have us donate their prize in the form of cash to a local non-profit group! What a great compassionate group!

Honorable mention goes to the following locations for each collecting over 100 pounds of goods: Companion Animal Clinic - 353 lbs, Diess Feed & Seed Store - 171 lbs, Mini Pet Mart River Rd - 143 lbs and Coastal Farm & Home Supply - 125 lbs. WAY TO GO!! This year, each location also accepted cash donations that will go directly to The Bearen Foundation to help save local pets through our funding program! Over $300.00 was collected! Thank you!

It is our fervent hope that when we deliver this bounty in years to come, we will find fewer and fewer furry friends unclaimed, homeless, in need of anonymous love, and more and more homes immeasurably enriched by the presence of a blessed animal.
