The Pet-Lover’s Party in The Park

The Pet-Lover’s Party in the Park is The Bearen Foundation’s signature event! Held in late summer, this event brings out people and their pets for giant party!! In 2006, we joined the Eugene Celebration and our annual Pet Parade for a twist on our Pet-Lover's Party... It was the Pet-Lover's Party on Park Street! We are looking to combine these two fabulous events again in 2007 so be on the lookout!

At past Pet-Lover's Parties, we have had several vendors, arts and crafts, a pet walk, various pet contests, food, music and entertainment! Various animal organizations set up informational tables with give-aways and other important pamphlets. Lane County Animal Regulation Authority has been there with adoptable pets, looking for good homes. Each year, they have had a 100% success rate!

Dog obedience demonstrations keep many pets and owners busy for a portion of the afternoon and a big highlight is the agility course by Willamette Agility Group! You can watch professional dogs run the course and then try it with your own dog! The Eugene Police Department has been with us and their K9 unit for an exciting demonstration along with the Eugene Fire Department and a giant fire truck to explore!

Grooming, nail-clipping and micro-chipping have also been available to the many pets in attendance.

Kids of all ages enjoy bouncing in the giant Dalmation Fun house while parents browse through candles, artwork, and other crafts.

Tired or thirsty pets can take a break at the KVAL Pet Valet while their owners take their chances in the giant raffle or the Animal Bingo! All the while, the fun music & our loveable emcee, Bob "Barker" keeps the crowd entertained.

Tom Ward, sports reporter from KVAL, has also joined us to keep the crowd of informed! Perhaps the best part of this event is learning that each year, every single animal that was brought out to the party for adoption, found a home! We also learned that a few of those pets were scheduled for euthanizing the next morning. In fact, our first place Pet Walk winners for several years in a row, walked by a Lane County Shelter Volunteer have been three of those lucky pets!!! Thank you so much to the families that made room for these special animals in their loving homes!
